Overview

Our People Solutions team partners with small to medium enterprises (SMEs) to deliver tailored support backed by ethical practice, innovation, and future-ready frameworks such as SFIA.

We are now seeking a high-performing People Consultant who is passionate about helping businesses solve workforce challenges – from sourcing the right talent to shaping future capability strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business development and delivery – ‘build your own desk’.
  • Engage with new commercial clients across Canberra to understand their workforce managed or project needs.
  • Promote and sell ARIS ZINC’s full suite of services: Recruitment, Payroll, and HR/WFP/SFIA Project Consulting or Managed/Project Services.
  • Design and position tailored client solutions including SFIA-aligned workforce audits.
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment assignments (permanent, contract, and temp).
  • Represent the business at networking events, trade expos, and client meetings.
  • Collaborate with internal team to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records and pipeline updates using our CRM platform.


Mandatory Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a consultant, ideally in agency or boutique firm settings.
  • Strong commercial acumen and knowledge of the Canberra private sector market
  • Full working rights in Australia.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite at our Braddon office, 5 days per week.
  • Demonstrated success in meeting revenue or placement targets.
  • Excellent communication and client engagement skills.
  • Familiarity with project, people, and payroll services and ability to position SMEs to clients.
  • Strong network across tech, health, education, or construction sectors in ACT/NSW.
  • Ability to lead discovery conversations and convert consulting opportunities.


Desirable Attributes

  • Experience or understanding of Human Resource advisory and workforce planning principles
  • Awareness or working knowledge of the SFIA framework (training provided if required)

Overview
As a key member of our small but growing company, you’ll lead our finance function end-to-end – covering tax, reporting, payroll oversight, and financial strategy – and be instrumental in building scalable processes for our future growth. You’ll also directly supervise our Accounts & Payroll Support Officer and help implement robust systems across our group entities.

As a key leader in our small but growing firm, you will also provide direct management of the Accounts & Payroll Support Officer and act as the first point of contact for internal financial and tax advisory matters.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and statutory obligations.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting across all AZG divisions (Recruitment, Payroll, and Consulting).
  • Maintain integrity of the general ledger and reconciliation processes using Xero and Xero Projects.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and payable functions to ensure cash flow alignment with growth targets.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights for strategic decision-making and board reporting.


2. Internal Tax & Regulatory Compliance

  • Manage all internal (national and international tax obligations including BAS, GST, PAYG, and annual company tax returns.
  • Liaise with the ATO, ASIC, and external advisors to ensure full legal compliance and up-to-date documentation.
  • Develop and maintain an internal tax strategy that ensures risk mitigation and full compliance with Australian regulations.
  • Keep the business abreast of any relevant regulatory, jurisdictional and/or tax law changes that may impact AZG.


3. Payroll Oversight & Team Management

  • Supervise and mentor the Accounts & Payroll Support Officer, including onboarding support and quarterly performance reviews.
  • Oversee fortnightly and monthly internal payroll processes for contractors and employees to ensure compliance with Fair Work, award interpretation, and superannuation regulations.
  • Act as the final escalation point for payroll or finance-related contractor queries.
  • Manage and operate client payroll and accounting services though our AZ Payroll and ThynkBok Accounting brands.


4. Systems, Processes & Internal Controls

  • Champion system integrity across Xero, Astute Payroll, and JobAdder, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain robust internal controls, including delegated authority, approval workflows, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Assist with system upgrades, process mapping, and internal process improvements aligned with AZG’s expansion goals.


5. Strategic and Operational Contribution

  • Contribute to the company’s operational financial strategy, including support for investment decisions, pricing reviews, and contract structuring.
  • Provide commercial modelling and risk advice to the GMD and senior leadership during client project bids scoping and resourcing discussions.

  • Contribute to annual reporting, compliance reporting, commercial modelling, pricing, and business acquisition and expansion planning.
  • Offer risk, margin, and performance insights to the GMD, CTO/Trustee and board


Key Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  • CPA qualified and Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ or CPA Australia) with a minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience
  • Demonstrated experience in leading finance functions in a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) environment
  • Strong understanding of Australian tax legislation and compliance requirements for SME entities and contracting models
  • Experience using Xero, including reporting, Projects, reconciliation, and budgeting functions
  • Excellent attention to detail, financial acumen, and problem-solving skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports for board and senior management
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage one direct report effectively
  • Experience with payroll systems such as Astute Payroll and contractor-based business models
  • Exposure to JobAdder or similar recruitment or HRIS CRMs
  • Experience in the recruitment, payroll, accounting and/or consulting industries


What You Bring:

  • CPA Australia/CA ANZ Certified – 5+ years post-qualification 
  • Strong internal tax knowledge and SME finance leadership experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Xero, payroll systems such as Astute Payroll, and CRMs like JobAdder
  • Ability to mentor junior staff, run lean finance operations, and maintain full compliance
  • Experience in recruitment, consulting, payroll, or contractor-based industries highly desirable
  • Clear communication skills, high accuracy, and structured thinking

Salary Package:

  • Base Salary: $125,000 – $135,000 per annum
  • Superannuation: 12%
  • Total Package approximately = Base Salary + Superannuation
  • Total Package Value: Approximately $140,000 – $151,200 per annum
  • Annual Adjustment: A 2.3% CPI increase is applied each July in accordance with company policy
  • Performance Bonuses: Additional bonuses will be awarded on a project-by-project basis for successful acquisitions and major contract wins

Responsibilities:

  • The Materiel Data Officer is responsible under broad direction to perform and achieve complex material logistics work within an integrated workforce.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and coordinate the conduct of audits, surveillance and perform quality assurance auditing on ship upgrade/construction programs and maintain a real-time corporate reporting of the activities.
  • Interpret verbal and written technical content to draft in a way that is appropriate for the intended audience.
  • Develop strong stakeholder engagements and sustain effective relationships with team members, management and stakeholders.
  • Analyse and suggest improvements to quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure appropriate performance against best practice.
  • Assess technical packages, reports, processes, and product and equipment performance to meet specified requirements, identify, and report non- conformances.
  • Develop and maintain NCB Shipbuilding Quality Standards.


Requirements:

  • A high level of demonstrable experience (10 to 15 years in a Technical domain).
  • Demonstrable experience in writing Plans and process for publication.
  • Desktop drafting and publishing skills especially in MS Word, PDF format.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style and language according to the audience’s level of knowledge, skill and experience.


Qualification and Experience:
This technical position requires the individual to have obtained Engineers Australia Stage 1 competency standard for Engineering Associate recognition (or ability to obtain status as an Engineering Associate within three months) or relevant skills and work experience such that an individual can reasonably achieve a recognised AQF qualification if required by the position.

Shipyard Facilities Assurance Officer

Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management: Act as the primary point of contact for all facilities- related contracts, including, security, landscaping, waste management, maintenance, and projects. Develop, negotiate, and enforce contracts.
  • Facility Assurance Implementation Plan.
  • Monthly Facility Dashboard and Audit Reports protocols.
  • Operational Governance Establish and maintain assurance frameworks, issue registers, audit trails, and escalation pathways to support integrated operations.
  • Drafting of facility assurance plans and governance docs.
  • Budgeting and Financial Management: Develop and manage the DCE facilities budget, ensuring accurate cost estimation, tracking, and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Facility Readiness Lead assurance of shipyard infrastructure (laydown, workshops, services, security zones), including oversight of design intent, handover, and commissioning).
  • Decommissioning plan for assets and capex post ship one.


Essential:

  • Proven experience managing facilities assurance, infrastructure compliance programs within Defence, shipbuilding, or secure industrial precincts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional site teams in complex, high- risk environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and reporting skills, particularly in a Defence acquisition or sustainment context.

Responsibilities:

  • Architectural certification.

Essential Experience and / or Qualifications:

  • Extensive industry and specialty experience in electrical engineering and systems integration including integration on maritime platforms.
  • Experience with RF environments and wireless communications in contested communications or electronic warfare domains.
  • Experience in digital communications protocols and signal conversion techniques.
  • Experience driving processes and process improvements, including continuous improvement methodologies.
