Our Approach

Human + Data-Driven Matching

Skilltap addresses the inefficiencies and biases of traditional CV-driven recruitment by integrating a transparent, codified skill and experience matching system. This combines:

  • Human-led assessment of aptitude and soft skills.
  • Data-driven frameworks (SFIA/DSS) to benchmark skills and career levels.
  • Candidate-owned transparency, where individuals consent to their data being used to maximise accuracy and trust.

Verification via VerifyGlobal

To ensure integrity and trust, all candidates are processed through our proprietary integrated VerifyGlobal platform, which validates:

  • Security clearances.
  • Police checks.
  • Professional references.
  • SFIA benchmarking and skills verification.
  • DSS alignment where applicable

This creates a verified workforce pool that meets the compliance requirements of government, Defence, academia, and private sector partners.

Why We Don’t Use AI Matching

While AI is increasingly used in recruitment, it can reinforce hidden bias and prioritise irrelevant data points. Skilltap deliberately avoids “black box” AI-driven decision making. Instead, we prioritise:

  • Transparency – clients and candidates see the basis for matches.
  • Accuracy – using frameworks like SFIA that align to role definitions.
  • Fairness – every candidate is assessed on merit, not opaque algorithms.
  • Trust – ensuring sensitive security-cleared talent is matched responsibly.

Workforce Impact

Skilltap strengthens workforce agility by enabling:

  • Rapid mobilisation of cleared talent across Defence, government, and      critical industries.
  • Better utilisation of veterans and other Life After Uniforms first responders transitioning into civilian roles by codifying acquired skills into SFIA/DSS language.
  • Workforce resilience and compliance for high-risk, security-sensitive projects.
  • Collaboration across public and private sectors, with academia included, to ensure skills transfer and career transition development.

Key Differentiators

  • Purpose-built for Australia’s cleared and security-sensitive workforce.
  • Human + data-driven methodology rather than opaque AI systems.
  • End-to-end verification via our proprietary VerifyGlobal, ensuring complete compliance and integrity.
  • Candidate empowerment – individuals own and control their data and career profile.
  • Aligned to government and Defence standards through SFIA and DSS codification.
  • Now used for all workforce for client peace of mind in private critical sectors.
